The HSV threatens to run out of air on the home stretch of the season as in the past six years. The Hamburgers only won one victory from the past four games. The idea of 2: 2 on Saturday evening at FC Schalke 04 was worrying in many areas.
As you know, if you sit in the glass house, you shouldn’t throw stones. The Schalke fans still did it after the duel with the HSV. “Second league, Hamburg stays with it,” sang the followers of the Gelsenkirchen club, who in turn had narrowly prevented relegation in the past series and was also deep in the table cellar for a long time. The malice in the direction of the Hanseatic League, which still have magnificent opportunities for advancement, was therefore maximum brave. And affected the addressees peripheral.
“That doesn’t itch,” said Jonas Meffert in the ARD interview. “It is also very, very brave,” added the midfielder, who had become the victim of a bad foul by Kenan Karaman shortly after the kick -off. The resulting red card for the Schalke captain should have played Meffert and actually had to play his side people on the cards. But she didn’t.
The previous league leader – on Sunday the 1. FC Köln took over the place on the sun – showed a cramped and error -related performance in an outnumber. A scramble after the final whistle between left-wing Jean-Luc Dompé and defender William Mikelbrencis also suggested that it was not well ordered about the nervous costume of the northern German.
Schalke Schallenberg: “You start to tremble again”
Dompé, who had prepared the 1-1 by Emir Sahiti with a cross, wanted to go to his French compatriot. The 29-year-old could still be prevented from assistant coach Richard Krohn. The Zoff, openly held on the lawn, manifested the impression that the HSV had previously left in the field: “They start to tremble again. You felt that a bit,” said Schalke’s Ron Schallenberg at “Sky” about the Hamburgers.
Dompé’s freaking out a sign of fluttering nerve costume?
Did Dompé lost its nerves because the HSV threatens to fail again in the seventh attempt? Never explained how Meffert and coach Merlin Polandzin explained in unison. “He had a disagreement with ‘Willi’. It was about a game situation. They are like siblings. And if you play with your brother in a soccer team and only make a tie in a game that you actually have to win, then it can also become more emotional,” said Meffert.
“There is almost a brother relationship between Jean-Luc and ‘Willi’. Jean-Luc also takes on a lot of responsibility for ‘Willi’ and has a large part in his fantastic development. They said one or the other-that is part of football,” explained Polzin.
Polzin surprises with starting eleven without a center forwarder
Despite the disappointing footballing performance, the young coach tried to pull the positive out of the game with a few successful offensive campaigns and renewed defense patrons. “We will learn from it and draw our conclusions from it,” said the 34-year-old in the ARD interview.
Polzin had surprised with five personnel changes in the initial formation compared to the duel with Eintracht Braunschweig (2: 4) in the previous week. Especially since there was no nominal center forward in the starting eleven. Both top goal scorers Davie Selke and Robert Glatzel initially tie up on the bench. The weak Immanuel Pherai and Ransford Königsdörffer were allowed to go from the start. The idea behind it: “We always wanted to get behind the Schalke defense with their speed,” said Polzin.
However, that only worked really well once when Königsdörffer prepared the 2-1 by Sahiti shortly before the break. Otherwise, the 23-year-old was not a big factor. And pherai? The noble technician was again a foreign body and was replaced at half -time. Adam Karabec came for him. Glatzel was also substituted.
Selke with bank and contract frustration
Selke had to continue watching. Due to his non -nomination for the starting eleven, it is now also clear that his expiring contract is not automatically extended if the rise is increased. To do this, he should have been on the pitch in 14 out of 17 second-round games from the start, which is no longer possible.
HSV loses after Interruption Game control
With the leadership in the back and in the second section, everything spoke for an HSV victory in the second section. The Polzin-Elf also pushed for the third goal after the restart, but was then slowed down by its own fans. Some of the travelers who traveled with them began to ignite in the block and shot rockets on the grass. Referee Harm Osmers (Hanover) puts the game for five minutes.
Afterwards, the dominant Hamburgers have increasingly lost the game control. That could have been enough to win against football -based but very passionate Schalke. But it didn’t do it because the Polzin protégés did not defend aggressively enough in the final phase and thus allowed the equalization by a header from Moussa Sylla.
Is the trend reversal against the Karlsruher SC?
“We missed the third goal,” said Polzin. The coach did not want to see the game interruption brought in by the HSV fans as the cause for the drop in tension in his team in the final phase. “It would be too easy to break it down. That’s why we don’t look for excuses, but start ourselves,” said the coach.
“We are not looking for excuses, but start with ourselves.”
-HSV coach Merlin Polzin
The 34-year-old, who has already witnessed four non-clay by HSV as an assistant coach, must now prove in the end of the season to be able to turn the correct adjustment screws even in critical situations. The Hamburgers still have everything in their own hands. With a success next Sunday (1.30 p.m., in the live center at NDR.de) against the Karlsruher SC, the gate to the Bundesliga would open very far. With a bankruptcy on the Elbe, the very big tremor would begin.
