In addition to the prospect of another highlight in the premier class, the BVB managers have created a special incentive for the players: In the event of a success against the team around ex-national coach Hansi Flick, the team receives a success premium in the millions.
As the “Bild” reports, the BVB squad should be rewarded with a semi-finals with a total of three million euros. The sum would be divided among the players after the game. There was already a bonus of two million euros for reaching the quarter -finals – after the two round of 16 with the OSC Lille.
Last year Dortmund in the Champions League had achieved the third highest income of all participating clubs with 120.8 million euros. Only Real Madrid (138.8 million) and Paris Saint-Germain (122.4 million) were above.
Regardless of the team internal bonuses, the progress would therefore be of great importance. The UEFA releases 15 million euros for reaching the semi -finals. An important aspect for the club, which after a previously weak Bundesliga season is currently only in eighth place and is fighting for another qualification for the Champions League.
