Former Bayern professional Franck Ribéry works as a coach in Italy on a future. From September, the 42-year-old will make the UEFA Pro diploma, as he told the “Gazzetta Dello Sport”. He has already done the courses for the A and B certificate, the prerequisites for the highest coaching license in European football, the Frenchman said. “I want to become a trainer to feel the magic of the square again.”

As a place for his course, he chose coverciano near Florence in Tuscany, the training center of the Italian Football Association. “For me, that’s the home for me,” said Ribéry. “I didn’t know the country before I got there, I had only heard the stories of my friend Luca Toni, but I discovered the same love for football there, from the children to the grandparents. I was in Florence when Italy won the European Championship 2021 and on the streets you could grab enthusiasm with my own hands.”

After his successful time at FC Bayern from 2007 to 2019, the former offensive star went to AC Florence and later to the US Salernitana. In October 2022, he ended his active career as a footballer. In the future, he wants to work as a coach in the offspring. “Even if you were a big footballer, it is right to start at the bottom, maybe in a youth team. In Italy I see that the desire for offensive football is growing as I like it, because we always had the ball with Bavaria.”
