In the decisive phase of the season, FC Bayern lack numerous professionals. Coach Vincent Kompany does not want to change anything at the destinations.
Before the Champions League duel with Inter Milan, Bayern’s coach Vincent Kompany sent a clear message to his team. In view of the numerous failures, the Belgian does not want to leave any room for excuses.
“I don’t feel like wailing,” Kompany clarified on Monday-one day before the quarter-final first leg against the Italian champion (Tuesday, 9 p.m. in the live ticker at T-Online). Despite the tense personnel position with seven missing teams of the first team, the coach remains with his claim: “I don’t want to change the goals because we have injuries.”
Company trusts the squad: “We must not forget that the boys who were involved tomorrow were involved in bringing us into the current position,” he said. You have to “just assume that the boys who play tomorrow will perform.”
Midfielder Konrad Laimer also focused on the team spirit: the team had to “move even more closely together,” said the Austrian.
Kompany left Kompany open whether Thomas Müller will replace Jamal Musiala. Musiala probably fails for six to eight weeks with a muscle bundle tear. However, the trainer referred to earlier games: “We played without a Jamal this season.” One could fall back on solutions from the past, he said. Kompany pointed out that he had never revealed his line -up before the game. When asked T-Online, however, he emphasized: “Experience always plays a role in such games. It is about character, heart, emotion. It is important that we are mentally ready to show personality.”
The discussions about a possible farewell to Müller only commented on the edge. The focus is on sporting preparation for Inter. “Of course it is quite normal in such a situation that everything is made so big,” he said. But his task is to ensure that the players are ready for the next game.
