Acute care chair: phasing out measures seems justified
The new chairman of the acute care sector, Mark Kramer, says it currently “seems responsible” to further reduce the corona measures, as the cabinet has announced. “Monitoring remains very important, so that we can closely monitor the situation in the regions and intervene in case of increasing pressure,” adds the chairman of the National Network Acute Care (LNAZ).
Internist-haematologist Kramer works for the Amsterdam UMC, of which he is also a board member. He succeeded Ernst Kuipers last week, who is now Minister of Health. This immediately put the Amsterdam specialist in charge of the National Coordination Center for Patient Distribution (LCPS). That center shares daily figures on the number of corona patients admitted and, if necessary, distributes patients across hospitals in the country.
The new LNAZ chairman points out that the number of hospital admissions is increasing, especially in Brabant and Limburg. This is probably the result of the many carnival celebrations. In the intensive care units, the occupation has actually decreased recently.
