After Cobolli in Bucharest, another success of Italtennis: two tie-breaks in Luciano to conquer the 250 final on red earth
From Bucharest to Marrakech within a few hours. Two different cities, two countries and two different continents, but with one thing that unites them: both have been the scene of a success of Italtennis. After Flavio Cobolli’s first ATP title in Romania, in Morocco it is Luciano Darderi’s turn. The blue, series head number seven of the scoreboard, beats the Dutch Griekspoor Tallon in the final of the tournament 250 on red earth: 7-6 7-6 in two hours of play. The tennis player, born in the province of Buenos Aires but who chose to play for Italy, succeeds Matteo Berrettini, champion Marrakech last year, and conquers the second career title after the success in Cordoba in 2024. With this victory, Darderi returns to the top 50: from tomorrow he will be number 48 in the world.
The match

The precedents between Griekspoor and Darderi say 2-0 for the Dutchman, but in Marrakech it is another story. In Morocco the Italianargentino has lost only one set on his way, against Hugo Gaston in the second round, and even in the final he does not spare himself. The service, however, helps the Dutchman, in his fourth match against a blue in this 2025, to maintain an apparent balance on 4-4. In the ninth Game the Dutchman offers the first break ball of the match and Darderi takes advantage of it. The blue, however, called to serve for the set, goes below 0-40 and reports Griekspoor in the partial. A practice only postponed to the tie-break: here, thanks above all to his straight, it is Darderi to impose himself. The script is also repeated in the second set. The 23-year-old from Villa Gesell cancels two break balls in the third game and thus gives another tie-break. Griekspoor, with the fatigue and the sun, who is wrong at the most important moment: on 3-2 you need and volley on the second and so the error that costs him dear comes. For Darderi, however, a joy found after difficult months and the final lost to the Challenger in Naples: Luciano is also back.
