With his incredible world record flight, Domen Prevc only wrote history a week ago. Shortly after the end of the World Cup season in ski jumping, the Slovenian has now cracked the next record.
At the Red Bull Target Jumping show competition in Zakopane, Polish, Domen Prevc improved the previous scent of scales of Yukiya Sato by three meters on Saturday. The 25-year-old ended up at 150.5 meters and thus ensured the jump of the day.
Just a week ago, PrevC had brought the ski jumping world to traffic jam to 254.5 meters. The eight-year-old record of the Austrian Stefan Kraft improved the exceptional skier by one meter at the end of the season.
Nevertheless, he missed the day’s victory in Planica: his compatriot Anze Lanisek flew 241.5 meters with a shorter attempt and better landing and successfully defended the lead after the first round.
Andreas Wellinger proves to be in Zakopane
In Zakopane on Saturday, Prevc also went empty with his teammates despite his best. Because this time not only jumping power, but above all precision was required.
Five ski jumping legends each put together a team of four athletes. The goal: after a total of eight jumps to be as close as possible at a total width of 1,000 meters.
The victory ultimately went to the team of DSV icon Martin Schmitt, the Andreas Wellinger, Dawid Kubacki, Lanisek and Stephan Embacher for his team. With the last jump, Wellinger screwed the team result to exactly 1,000 meters.
However, because the season of Andreas Goldberger with Gregor Deschwanden, Valentin Foubert, Jakub Wolny and Timi Zajc also met the target brand, the duel of the team captains ultimately decided: Schmitt flew one meter one meter on the tiny show ski jump than his opponent from Austria.
