The French young biathlete Pauline Machut surprisingly announced the end of her young career – at the age of only 20.
Before her biathlon career really started, 20-year-old French woman Pauline Machut has given up her rifle. In a post on Instagram, she announced the end of her career on Thursday, which she started eight years ago.
This time she won’t say that the season is over. “This time it’s over. I’m retired,” Machut wrote in her emotional farewell message.
Biathlon subscription “No easy decision”
“Since I was small, biathlon was part of my life. It was a bit my way to live. I had dreams without really knowing where they would lead me,” the young French woman looked back on the past few years.
During this period she celebrated some successes and experienced “adventure, filled with challenges, joy, but also self -doubt and, especially, memories that I will keep forever,” said Machut.
“Today the circle closed. It is time for me to open a new chapter. I decided that this season was the last one for me. It is not a simple decision,” added the 20-year-old, who, according to his own statement, was probably considering.
Biathlon talent had hoped for more
She gave everything for eight years. “I was appointed in three international selection teams in which I did my best. Of course I dreamed of more, but I’m still proud of my trip,” Machut admitted that the jump to the very large biathlon stage was her original goal.
“This adventure is now over. But a new one begins. I don’t know what the future will bring for me, but I can’t expect it. One thing is certain: I look ahead with a smile and a heart full of beautiful things,” the (ex) biathlete ended her emotional farewell message.
