Frank Moberg died on Thursday. The departure happened completely unexpectedly.
– This came completely out of the butt. My father was, of course, an old man, 85, but we all saw this spring that he was in super good condition and happy. Except for the success of IFK now, Marc comments.
Frank Moberg still gave an interview on Wednesday Ilta-Sanomat. The former IFK boss was annoyed when the Helsinki club season ended this year in the semi-finals of the SM League. SaiPa defeated 4-0 in the HIFK series.
– This shows that there are more important things than hockey. [Kuolema] It came well from the butt.

Moberg was born two weeks after the end of the Winter War and spent more than three years after the Continuation War as a war child in Sweden. Later he received his well -known nickname Mr. IFK.
Moberg started in the club in 1968 and worked on the leadership for over 30 years. Over the years, he worked as a treasurer, chairman, CEO and a member of the Board of Directors of Ligaföreningen IFK. The icon retired in 2003.
In his 80th anniversary interview with IFK, Moberg recalled IFK in 2020 with warmth, but also critical.
-Of course, the best memories are all the championships, especially the -80 championship, when I was chairman. It was the first championship in a way under my leadership. After all, they were nice things, but after all, quite a few. I started -75 and quit 2003 and did not fit more than three championships. Of course, there has been quite a lot of feedback over the years, Moberg said in 2020.
“Mr. IFK” has been described as a boss that cared for the economy. He developed a professional club from IFK and became one of the most respected club leaders in Finland.
Moberg served as Lions team leader three times between 1974 and 89. He has been nobility as a Finnish ice hockey lion. The legend followed the sport diligently until the last days of his life.
Moberg is also remembered as the director of Hotel Hesperia from the early 1970s to 1987.
