A ram raid was committed on Monday night at two electronics stores on the Eindstraat in Breda. The shops are opposite each other. Much damage was done, but according to the owner of one of the stores, nothing of value was taken. The loot consists of show models of telephones and iPads that can be disabled remotely, he says.
At least four perpetrators were involved in the ram raid on the Samsung and Amac cases, the police reported. The shops are closed to the public.
“It is a completely pointless action,” said Ed Bindels, the manager of the Amac branch. “There is never any Apple stock in our stores and the perpetrators would have known that if they had done some research. Not really smart thieves.”
‘Products are worth nothing’
“In addition, the demo products that were taken along are immediately rendered unusable remotely, so the stolen products are worth nothing. But the damage to the front and the store is enormous. It is terrible that after such a long period in which the stores had to be closed due to corona, that the building has now been so destroyed,” sighs Bindels.
The police received a report around 5.30 pm that a burglary had taken place in the Eindstraat. Officers who went to take a look saw a car parked in front of the two buildings, the facades of which had been destroyed. An initial investigation shows that the car drove into both buildings and destroyed the fronts.
The perpetrators may have been inside for less than 40 seconds and then fled in another vehicle.
Windows also destroyed in the Nieuwstraat
That same night, within an hour, the windows of a shop in the Nieuwstaat in Breda were also smashed. The police suspect that this vandalism was committed by the same group of perpetrators.
After the burglary report on the Eindstraat, officers immediately started an investigation and seized the car with which the ram raid was committed. Forensic Investigators will investigate traces in and near the two stores this Tuesday. A neighborhood survey is also being conducted and CCTV footage is being viewed. Of course, the police also want to get in touch with witnesses.
