VfB Stuttgart is in the final of the DFB Cup and meets Arminia Bielefeld on May 24th. In the victory against RB Leipzig, three players stood out. The individual criticism.
For the first time since 2013, VfB Stuttgart has reached the final of the DFB Cup. In the semifinals, the team of coach Sebastian Hoeneß defeated the RB Leipzig team 3-1 and can therefore hope for the first trophy title since 1997. In the victory against Leipzig, Alexander Nübel, Jeff Chabot and Angelo Stiller were particularly convincing. The individual criticism:
Alexander Nübel: grade 1.5
Especially in the first round the strong backing of VfB Stuttgart. Paried several times against Loïs Openda and also grabbed the deflected shot from Xavi Simons (32nd). Benjamin Sesko tunneled from a short distance in the 1-2 connection goal, but without guilt.
Jeff Chabot: Note 1
Throughout numerous promising situations of the Leipziger. Strong tackling in the penalty area, threw himself in every shot and blocked almost everything that came to the Stuttgart goal. The rock in the surf in the victory against Leipzig.
Ameen Al-Dakhil: Note 3
Not quite as stable as Chabot, but still with solid and passionate performance. In the first round, a few times got the foot in between, but did not always look safe in the positional game. In his own penalty area, lost the duel with Ridle Baku, which led to a great chance for Leipzig.
Finn Jeltsch: grade 3.5
Was set up as a right -back and required intensively from the strong left side of the Leipziger and the Openda, which is operating over half -left. Was not always right, but was able to rely on Chabot as a cleaner. Fantastic tackling against Sesko in the 54th minute, which then escaped him in the back in the 62nd minute and scored for the meantime 1: 2 from a guest perspective.
Maximilian Mittelstädt: grade 2.5
Had the first big Cahnce of the game by volley after a cross from Jamie Leweling (5th). His subsequent corner led via the detour sesko to the leading goal of Angelo Stiller (5th). If the left defensive side did well for a long time, only in the final phase there were opportunities for Leipzig on his side – as with Sesco’s slatted scene.
Atakan Karazor: grade 3
Not quite as conspicuous in terms of play, but active as a verbal and gesture -rich driver. Organized, structured, motivated – without having the very big scenes themselves. As always, however, a reliable size in midfield.
Angelo Stiller: grade 1.5
Dream goal with his volley legal shot from 19 meters to 1-0 in the 5th minute. Once again the playful link between the defensive and the offensive was once again, the corner kick, which led to 3-1 through Leweling. Great appearance of the international.
Angelo Stiller scored the 1-0 for VfB Stuttgart against RB Leipzig with a dream goal for VfB Stuttgart
Jamie Leweling: Note 3
Nice flank before the first major chance of Mittelstädt, otherwise a few offensive impulses. Then it was spot on in the 73rd minute and scored 3: 1 by dusting and thus for decision. It was the first cup goal for Leweling.
Enzo Millot: grade 4
Had a difficult stand, often actlessly acted in his offensive efforts. Could hardly demonstrate his creative potential and often got stuck on the opponent with his actions. In addition, before the Leipzig connection hit, it did not go into the header duel with Willi Orban. Was replaced by Fabian Rieder in the 76th minute – millotely had significantly better appearances in the VfB jersey.
Nick Woltemade: Note 2
Feest felt every duel that was offered to him and did not lose a ball. Stayed in the first round without its own large offensive scene, but was then one of the game -decisive actors in the second half. Scored the 2-0 after a double double pass with Ermedin Demirovic (57th) and made it possible to hit 3-1 by Leweling with his header on the long corner.
Nick Woltemade scored the second goal for VfB Stuttgart against Leipzig
Ermedin Demirovic: grade 2.5
As a nominally only real tip, moved cleverly into the gaps in the Leipzig defense chain and had a good chance of nearby Vandordt early on. Played the goal of Woltemade with a very fine action. A good appearance of the Bosnian even without your own hits.
Without grade: Fabian Rieder (substitution 76th minute), Leonidas Stergiou (77th) and El Bilal Touré (90.+3).
