For stabbing a knife in the leg of a 50-year-old man, a 37-year-old woman from Emmen demanded a 15-month prison sentence. Five months of these are conditional. The public prosecutor finds attempted serious abuse proven.

After a fight about taking away her bank cards and methadone, the woman stung a knife in the man’s leg last July. The incident happened at the man’s home in Emmermeer. The wound of two centimeters was closed with two keys. The man also had scratch wounds on his back, but the public prosecutor finds it unclear how they originated.

The woman was also on trial for insulting and threatening an agent. She would have spit it. She was so furious during that period that she no longer knew what she was doing, she told the judge. A good friend of hers died a year and a half before. The girlfriend was married to the 50-year-old victim.

The seven animals they left in the eyes of the suspect were not well cared for by the man. Conflicts arose about this. That escalated that day in July. “In the end this did not lead to anything, because the animals and the home are now gone,” she told about it. The woman has been stuck for nine months now and the anger has fallen. “Here’s a very different woman for me,” said the public prosecutor.

Yet it is a serious fact, says the prosecutor. Piercing with a knife could have led to serious injury. If the court takes over the requirement, the suspect will be released quickly. He therefore also demanded compulsory daytime activities and contact ban. The lawyer did not share his opinion. The wound was too superficial to be able to speak of an attempt at severe abuse. She asked the woman for that fact to be released.

The court will rule on 15 April.
