The horse market, a kilometer from Knokke-Heist, was used after the First World War to dump German ammunition. Although there is already a general emergency and intervention plan North Sea, there is now a specific plan with guidelines for emergency situations that can influence the landfill. A working group worked out this in 2023, together with the Coast Guard and the National Crisis Center.
