The request for a supercar from a Mexican collector becomes the tribute of GFG Style to the iconic Dream Car of the trident, created by Giorgetto Giugiaro in 1971
In the golden era of the “cuneiform” cars, an important chapter was written by the Maserati Boomerang, the result of the genius of Giorgetto Giugiaro That I had founded the Italdesign three years earlier: mechanically based on the Maserati Bora, it was exhibited for the first time at the Turin Motor Show in 1971 and the following year – in a functioning version – at the Geneva Motor Show, he affected criticism and public. A single specimen, as expected, which inspired equally iconic models such as Maserati Merak, Lotus Esprit and Delorean DMC-12. Beyond a bodywork “da astronave”, the instrumentation of the dashboard was revolutionary, never again revised on no series cars: it is located right above the steering column, at the center of the steering wheel, which is incented in an invisible way behind the bulkhead that houses all the indicators. There Boomerangrecorded as road cars, was always used as a car for exhibitions until 1974 when it was purchased by a collector.
Debut in Mexico
–
And it was a collector, the Mexican Carlos Peralta, who inspired the Turin Gfg Style – led by Fabrizio Giugiaro, son of Giorgetto – in developing an One -Off with the technical collaboration of Mat (manufacture of Automobili Turin), inspired by the boomerang. And like the ancestor, even the Peralta is very far from what can be seen in the (few) car reviews: “It has a typically 70s attitude – he explains Fabrizio Giugiaro – And he has nothing to do with today’s cars. I wanted to embellish it with quotes, styles and references to forms of a past that has made history, but it is also a tribute to my father, through the modern reinterpretation of the volumes of the boomerang. Which was pure avant -garde. “The car was presented at the Pastejé Automotive Invitational, a prestigious Mexican automotive event, and obviously ended up on the cover.
The Biturbo Neptune
–
The mechanical base of Peralta S is made up of the Maserati Mc20, from which it inherited the typical location of the central engine (which is the 3.0 V6 Biturbo Neptune of 630 HP) and the rear -wheel drive, while the body panels were handmade using aluminum and carbon fiber. The scenographic effect is remarkable, with the bodywork made of three pieces of visible aluminum and polished mirror: a unique surface without continuity with the windows. Particularly the system with which you access the passenger compartment, with the possibility of lifting the entire “block” consisting of windshield, roof and counters. The mobile aerodynamic parts are no less, such as the spoiler integrated into the tail that rises in motion. The interiors are also taken from the MC20, inspired by the 70s with metallic chrome skin skin to cover seats, dashboard and panels. Much attention has also been paid by GFG Style to the other elements that exploit functional forms, such as the controls behind the wheel, the ergonomic seats and the keys on the central tunnel. In short, a real jewel.
