Vanninen, representing Tampere’s Pyrinth, won the World Championship gold in Nanjing, China a week ago.
The 21-year-old athlete had previously received € 3,000 from the city when he won Halli-Eem gold in Apeldoorn, Netherlands.
The International Athletics Association WA paid Vanninen $ 40,000 in prize money. It corresponds to around € 36,900.
Vanninen played 4,821 points in the World Cup and scored 4,922 points in the Finnish Championship.
Vanninen’s reward is based on the principles of reward approved by the Tampere City Government.
The principles define uniform practices for rewarding athletes for Tampere or Tampere clubs for exceptional sports success.
