96-year-old woman from Haarlem lost money, jewelry and phone after a clever chat trick

A 96-year-old woman from Haarlem fell victim to a chat trick on Wednesday, August 30. A large amount of money was used to debit her card, and she also lost her phone and some jewelry. The police are now sharing images of the woman using the stolen card to pay.

The 96-year-old lady received a call on the 30th of August from – supposedly – someone from the bank. She is scared with a story about fraud with her ID. She is talked into in such a way that her trust is gained.

Trouble

She gives her code to the operator by telephone. At her front door, the debit card is then given to someone else, a dark-skinned courier. The woman also hands over various jewelry and a telephone in addition to her card, in the hope that this would solve the so-called fraud.

But that’s when all the trouble starts. Because less than three hours later after her PIN code was obtained, 1,200 euros was withdrawn from a cash machine in Amsterdam – on the Ceintuurbaan – with her debit card. The woman doing this is clearly visible on the screen. The police hope to catch her – and thus also the other perpetrator.
