95:80! Alba continues to win and climbs to third place

Alba Berlin’s winning streak continues. The Berliners won a catch-up game against the Basketball Löwen Braunschweig on Wednesday 95:80 (42:37). Concerns about Maodo Lo.

For the capital city it was the eleventh competitive win in a row. In front of 2046 spectators, the best Berlin throwers were Jaleen Smith with 19 points and Tamir Blatt with 13 points. The Berliners are now third in the table behind Bayern Munich and Telekom Baskets Bonn and still have a few more games to play.

At Alba, Yovel Zoosman returned to the team after four weeks out with a hamstring injury. Center Ben Lammers was also there again. Coach Israel Gonzalez had to do without Johannes Thiemann due to shoulder problems, along with long-term absentees Marcus Eriksson and Louis Olinde.

Braunschweig were wide awake in defense in the first quarter and scored well from the line of three. The Berliners fell behind by ten points and now had to do without national player Maodo Lo, who was ailing and substituted.

Thanks to two three-point shots by Jonas Mattisseck, Alba was able to shorten the lead to 21:22 at the end of the quarter. The Berliners found their way into the game better and also defended more intensively. Braunschweig held back physically. Alba went into the dressing room with a 42-37 lead.

After the break, the Berliners adjusted better to the way the guests played and started to pull away. The offensive rhythm was there and Braunschweig could no longer keep up the intensity. In the end, favorite Alba clearly won.
