A 94-year-old man from Hilversum on a mobility scooter was hit by a car in the Utrecht area yesterday afternoon and then kidnapped to Hilversum. The man was pressured to hand over his debit card. The police have arrested three suspects.
The very elderly victim was on his mobility scooter on his way to Utrecht yesterday afternoon. Near Utrecht he was hit by a small, blue car. A woman and two men forced the elderly man to drive to his home so he could hand over his debit card.
The victim gave his debit card and PIN code under duress. The very elderly man was then taken into the suspects’ blue car, after which the four of them drove to Utrecht. Several attempts were made to withdraw money with the victim’s bank card.
Arrests
Observant neighbors saw the older man get into the car with his debit card in his hand and sensed something was wrong. The local residents called the police and provided the license plate number of the blue vehicle. This allowed the car containing the three suspects to be quickly found. The trio was arrested around 7 p.m. This concerns a 23-year-old woman from Den Dolder (in the province of Utrecht), a 20-year-old man from The Hague and a 30-year-old man from Utrecht.
Anyone with more information about the kidnapping is asked to contact police.
