9-euro ticket: web provider shows direct connections better than Deutsche Bahn

This is Bahn Direkt

Due to the 9-euro ticket, a particularly large number of travelers are currently traveling by train. Each of them wants to get to their destination as quickly as possible. In the app or on the Deutsche Bahn website, however, it is sometimes difficult to get the right direct connections displayed. To solve this problem, the developer Julius Tens created the Bahn Direkt application. According to t3n, this is based on the timetable data for the whole of Europe and shows direct train connections on a map. You can search for direct connections from your own starting point as well as from the desired destination. However, as the Focus website writes, the database of applications is not complete. For example, trains from smaller transport companies should be missing more often. The situation is similar for connections outside of Germany. After all, the app only uses official railway data for its services, so routes that are not operated by Deutsche Bahn remain unknown.

This way you can quickly find direct connections

The website Chip explains how you can use the web app from Bahn Direkt to find the desired connection quickly and easily. To do this, enter the place of interest in the search field at the top right and select the appropriate station from the suggestions made. Various colored points would then be displayed on a map, which would indicate how long the journey to the respective points was. Dark green stands for travel times under an hour, light green for one to two hours, yellow for two to four hours, orange for four to six hours and red for travel times longer than six hours. If you move the mouse over the points, the names of the destination stations would also be displayed. In this way, the nearest train station in the vicinity can be quickly found for a direct connection.

If you have now found the desired route, you can either click on the corresponding colored dot and be forwarded directly to the Deutsche Bahn website or call up a price calendar from Bahn-Guru. This should make it possible to find the best price for the trip, but this shouldn’t be a problem during the 9-euro ticket period. Finally, the ticket can then be booked with Deutsche Bahn.
