New series and films are regularly added, some are canceled or they migrate from one service to another. So how do you know where certain series and films are running? Clever apps that scan the streaming offer help here.
Apps provide information about the streaming program and availability
Disney+ usually adds new series and films to its program on a weekly basis, with new series and seasons usually starting on Fridays. However, one cannot always rely on this weekly rhythm for foreign series. In the USA, seasons may be split up, paused due to public holidays or major sporting events, or given a new slot at short notice depending on success. This also has an impact on the broadcast in Germany.
Services that can be called up both on the Internet and via apps provide information about what is happening, where and when. They are a kind of program guide for series. A pioneer in the field of series tracking is “Trakt.tv”, a service from the USA. Here users can manage their films in the browser and also via the app. With all functions, however, the service costs around 2.50 euros per month.
The advantage of series tracker apps: Users can be reminded of episodes via push notifications so that they don’t miss anything. With an eye on the wallet, you can even set whether only recommendations that are included in your own subscriptions are displayed, or whether you might be tempted to make external purchases here and there.
Important: The apps only provide information. The respective provider is looked at, a subscription is required. Otherwise, the apps mostly have a very similar structure, but some of them are only available for certain operating systems. “SeriesGui.de” and “Showlyapp.com”, for example, only run on Android smartphones, while “TVTime.com” is also available for iOS.
