Alba Berlin celebrated an important away win in the basketball Bundesliga. On Sunday, the Berliners won the chasing duel at the Telekom Baskets Bonn with 89:77 (51:43).
Alba remains sixth in the table, but has played fewer games than the competition. The best Berlin thrower was Yovel Zoosman with 18 and Luke Sikma and Christ Koumadje with twelve points each.
Coach Israel Gonzalez was without Ben Lammers (gastrointestinal infection) and Marcus Eriksson (foot injury). But Koumadje was there again. Both teams pushed the pace from the start. It was Alba’s ninth game in just 20 days. The guests didn’t notice that for a long time.
The game was very even at first. The Berliners were able to use their size advantages under the basket and repeatedly collected important rebounds. At the beginning of the second quarter, Alba was able to pull away for the first time (31:24). Bonn countered, but the German champions had more access on the defensive and always had an answer.
Right at the beginning of the second half, Alba was able to pull away to twelve points for the first time (55:43). They were able to keep this lead until the last section. However, the Berliners became more and more tired and Bonn closed the gap to five points again. But Alba remained calm and in the end brought the victory home with ease.
