A senior from Berlin died while cycling in Western Pomerania.

As a police spokeswoman said on Sunday in Neubrandenburg, the 84-year-old was traveling between Zingst and Barth (West Pomerania-Rügen) with his wife on Saturday and suddenly fell off his bike. The cyclist, who is said not to have worn a bicycle helmet, suffered serious head injuries.

Although several paramedics, who were also there in their free time, came to his aid, the 84-year-old died at the scene of the accident. An emergency doctor could only determine death. The wife was then taken to relatives.

According to the information, the accident happened on a cycle and hiking trail, which is very busy in the tourist season, shortly after passing the bridge over the Barthe River. According to the previous investigations by the criminal police, there is no evidence of third-party involvement. The public prosecutor’s office will decide on the progress of the investigation on Monday
