It was a special opportunity for Koenraad Degroote. The 65-year-old mayor starts his seventh consecutive term and has been at the helm in Dentergem for 37 years. “The first time I took the oath at Olivier Vanneste, then with Paul Breyne and now a few times at Carl Decaluwé,” says Degroote.

He remains careful about a possible eighth term: “You never say in politics, but we have to wait and see what the future brings and what is best for the municipality.”
