During the procession, Saint Anthony, the healing saint for humans and animals, is commemorated. The parade was recognized as intangible cultural heritage last year. It is a real animal parade with pigs, sheep, dogs and a horse. “Saint Anthony always took care of the animals and ensured that they could always live in good health. We are trying to extend that tradition a little,” says organizer Geert Himpens.
The parade ended, like every year, with a celebration of mass.
