The Drenthe Fiets4Daagse is finished. After many kilometers in the legs, the last route was driven today. Around seven thousand participants got on the two-wheeler this edition.
That is slightly less than the organization had hoped. “It is less than before corona, but significantly more than last year when we had a stripped-down edition,” says chairman Jan Broertjes. “We expect that with all the good sounds we are hearing, word of mouth will also do its job and we will return to the old number next year.” In 2019 there were 12,000.
Broertjes looks back on a successful edition. Tuesday and Wednesday it was very hot, especially Tuesday, but it was decided to just go cycling. “All the starting place chairmen and the daily board thought it was responsible. And luckily we were right. Everyone started on time, so that they were also inside for the hottest moment of the day. We have not heard a single discord about that.”
