7-year-old daughter asks difficult questions

Larisa Kuklina has not been seen at the World Cup since Russia invaded Ukraine. PDO

Biathlon skier Larisa Kuklina was one of the Russian athletes who were excluded from the international games due to the war of aggression started by Russia.

After the decision, Kuklina’s seven-year-old Milandaughter has wondered why mother no longer competes around Europe. Kuklina told Sport-Express in the interview that he has talked about things with his daughter, but explaining them is not easy.

– Now there will be a lot of questions. He asks, ‘Why?’ When he is told that it is about sanctions, that we are now not allowed to compete in international arenas, he asks: ‘What are the sanctions?’ You have to explain it to him. As I continue to speak, he asks, ‘What does the international arena mean?’ He has several questions for everything.

After Russia had launched an attack on Ukraine, Kuklina posted a picture of a heart with both Ukrainian and Russian flags on Instagram.

– What is happening? Stop it! We live in the 21st century, the woman had written on the side of the picture.

Kuklina has skied in the Biathlon World Cup since the 2018–2019 season. The woman has 60 starts under her belt and two podium finishes.
