7 surprising reasons to visit the Zoetermeer Library this fall

The Zoetermeer library is no longer just the place where you borrow paper books. There are regular fun activities organized, you can (net) work and study, take courses or flip through a magazine in the cafe. And did you know that ebooks and audiobooks are included in your subscription?

Below are 7 reasons to visit the Zoetermeer Library again soon. You can find the library in Stadhuis-Forum, at Stadhuisplein 1.

1. The agenda is full of fun events and activities

The library staff never sits still. One fun, interesting event after another is organized here and every target group is covered. During the Children’s Book Week, no fewer than 1500 children came for activities such as caricature drawing and children’s yoga, the lunch for lonely elderly people was sold out well in advance and Keti Koti turned out to be a great success. The LGBTQ+ community meets monthly at the Rainbow Café, each with a different theme.

From November 2 to 6, of course the Thriller Festival on the agenda, with exciting lectures and other things you really don’t want to miss. Young visitors can, for example, brew a creepy recipe in the BiebFabriek during that period; a new concept where children can do fun experiments. 2. E-books and audiobooks are included in your subscription

Drizzly autumn days are made for snuggling up under a blanket with a book. Whether that’s a paper book, a ebook or an audiobook. Did you know that you can get all three at the Zoetermeer Library, and that this is included in your membership? In the online library you can even find music, games, movies and sheet music. There are also all kinds of courses and scientific articles at your disposal. That’s how you get through the dark days!

3. There is a wide range of courses, workshops and lectures

Because the Volksuniversiteit is now housed in the library, you can now also go here for all kinds of things courses, workshops and lectures. Do you want to master an exotic language, learn the best way to tidy up your house or learn all about the VOC history? On to the library! Everything is done in small groups and under the guidance of motivated teachers.

4. You can relax here

You can of course buy a magazine for home, but if you just want to get away from your own environment, you can also browse the library. You can do this at the reading table or in Café MAX, while enjoying a cup of coffee or a tasty lunch. Children have their own space to chill out.

6. It’s a great place to (net) work and study

The Forum is also widely used as a workplace by students, freelancers and other laptop users who are not tied to an office. The great thing is that you can also easily contact each other here. For example, you can get help from unexpected sources when starting your company or writing your thesis. Win win situation!

7. You can go there for help with administrative matters

Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday you can visit the library in one of the branches of the Zoetermeer Library Information point Digital Government. The so-called IDO counter helps you with all your digital applications. Whether it concerns tax returns, allowances, donor registration, Zoetermeerpas, local or national government, SVB, regional taxi or the CoronaMelder app.
