The Eisbären lost their second home game in a row in the DEL. However, the game had it all.

On Saturday evening, the league leaders lost to the Grizzlys Wolfsburg 6:9 (1:4, 0:2, 5:3).

Maximilian Heim scored two goals, and Marcel Noebels, Tobias Eder, Patrice Cormier and Zach Boychuk also scored for the Berliners, who made too many defensive errors and lost the puck in the first two thirds.

In front of 14,200 spectators in the sold-out arena at Ostbahnhof, the home team got off to a bad start. After three minutes, the guests led 2-0 thanks to a shorthanded goal from Matt White and a goal from Justin Feser. Darren Archibald and Chris Wilkie extended the lead before Noebels reduced the deficit for the hosts on the power play.

After the first break, Nikita Quapp replaced the unfortunate Jake Hildebrand in the Eisbären’s goal. However, the 20-year-old goalie couldn’t prevent Lower Saxony from pulling away thanks to Julian Chrobot and a powerplay goal from Spencer Machacek.

In the turbulent final section, Eder scored in the power play and home for the capital. Archibald scored his second goal, but Cormier, Heim again and Boychuk brought the Berlin team closer again. Andy Miele and Ryan Button ensured Wolfsburg’s victory with their late goals.
