The polar bears celebrated an important win in the race for the playoff spots. On Wednesday evening, the German champions won 6: 4 (3: 1, 1: 3, 2: 0) at the Schwenninger Wild Wings.

Frank Hördler and Frank Mauer each scored two goals, and Zach Boychuk and Manuel Wiederer also scored for the capitals.

In front of 3465 spectators in the Schwenninger Arena, the guests used their few chances to score in the first third: Mauer scored the lead after just two minutes. Boychuk raised after going it alone when the Berliners were outnumbered, Hördler scored the third goal. Shortly before the first break, the home side were able to shorten the gap with a goal from Tylor Spink.

After the restart, Hördler extended his lead with his second goal. But the capital city made more and more mistakes, so that the Schwenninger got back into the game with goals from Sebastian Uvira and Alexander Karachun.

The polar bears had three seconds before the end of the third even accept the equalizer when Ville Lajunen scored on the power play. In the final section, the capitals secured the three points with goals from Wiederer and Mauer again.
