The accident happened on Wednesday morning around 10.45 am in the center of Kerksken, a sub-municipality of Haaltert. The woman was hit while crossing. She had to be resuscitated on the spot and was then urgently transferred to hospital for further care. The sixty-year-old died there not much later from her injuries. It is not yet clear how the accident happened, this will be further investigated by the public prosecutor’s office, which appointed an expert. It was probably a driver who made a turning maneuver and hit the woman. The village was closed to traffic for a while. Further investigation is ongoing.
