6107 new corona cases in Berlin – incidence continues to fall to 892.4

The corona incidence in Berlin has continued to fall and was 892.4 on Saturday morning, according to the Senate situation report. 24 hours earlier it was 901.9, on Thursday it was 925.5.

The value indicates the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days. A few days ago the numbers were well over 1000.

6107 new corona infections (previous day: 7005) were registered in Berlin on Saturday. The total number is 767,847. There were three other deaths. 4,276 people have died in Berlin since the beginning of the pandemic from or with the disease caused by the pathogen.

But not all cases count anymore

The federal government’s new test strategy has been in effect since February 12. The following applies: Anyone who wants to have a free PCR test done can only do so if an antigen rapid test previously carried out by a test center was positive.

Anyone who has a red warning in the Corona-Warn-App or has carried out a test with a positive result at home is no longer entitled to a free PCR test. But only PCR tests are included in the statistics.

The situation in the districts

All counties submitted new cases on Saturday. Most new infections were reported from Marzahn-Hellersdorf (+871), followed by Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg (+786), Treptow-Köpenick (+667) and Mitte (+583).

Neukölln reported the fewest new infections with 279 cases, followed by Reinickendorf (+303).

► With the seven-day incidence, four districts are above the 1000 mark. The highest incidence is in Treptow-Köpenick with 1292.7 (previous day: 1368.9). It is followed by Marzahn-Hellersdorf with 1252.6 (previous day: 1159.2), Pankow with 1053.7 (previous day: 1044.6) and Spandau with 1020.2.

The lowest incidence is in Lichtenberg with 595.5 and Neukölln with 654 (previous day: 705.8).

The status of vaccinations

77.4 percent (previous day: 77.4) of Berliners have been vaccinated at least once. 73.1 percent (previous day: 73.1) have the basic immunization or are fully vaccinated. 58.3 percent (previous day: 58.2) have received a booster vaccination or have been boosted.

The Corona traffic light

In order to include a more meaningful indicator in the Corona traffic light, the relative change in the seven-day incidence was replaced by the hospitalization incidence. The seven-day incidence and the occupancy of the intensive care beds remain unchanged.

According to the management report, the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants – equivalent to the seven-day incidence for all of Berlin – is 892.4 (previous day: 901.9) – the traffic light is RED.

The seven-day hospitalization incidence is 16.1 (previous day: 16.7) – the traffic light is RED.

This indicator shows how many people per 100,000 inhabitants were hospitalized after a corona infection within a week. The indicator is green when the value is below 4. From 4 the traffic light switches to yellow, at 8 to red.

The utilization of the intensive care beds by corona patients is 11.3 percent (previous day: 11.1 percent) – the traffic light is YELLOW.

The yellow limit here is 5 percent, and this traffic light also turns red at 20 percent.
