It was just after 7 p.m. when a passerby noticed the cyclist along the Klarewal in Alveringem. The man lay with his face in the water and had to be resuscitated on the spot. After half an hour, the victim showed a heartbeat again and was immediately taken to hospital. The 61-year-old man’s life was in danger at that moment.
Investigation shows that the man was not hit. It is still unclear how the cyclist ended up in the canal. Either the man made a steering error or he became unwell during his bike ride.
