The Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven have also won their fifth game in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) and are still at the top.
Coach Thomas Popiesch’s team beat the Iserlohn Roosters 5:3 (1:1, 1:2, 3:0) thanks to a strong final third. Bremerhaven only dropped one point during the course of the season.
Bremerhaven went into the last 20 minutes with a deficit, then Nicholas Jensen (51′), Christian Wejse (54′) and Miha Verlic (58′) shot out the win.
Setback for Frankfurt, victory for DEG
The Löwen Frankfurt meanwhile suffered a setback. After an early 2-0 lead, the promoted team lost 2-3 (2-0, 0-1, 0-2) at the Nürnberg Ice Tigers and missed the chance of their third win in the fifth game of the season.
Carter Rowney (4th) and Ryan Olsen (12th) scored for Frankfurt, who had come back sensationally on Sunday after losing 4-0 at defending champions Eisbären Berlin and only lost in extra time (4-5). Dennis Lobach (38th) and Daniel Schmölz (45th/56th) turned the game around.
First point win for Bietigheim
The Bietigheim Steelers lost against the Düsseldorfer EG 3:4 (1:1, 1:1, 1:1, 0:0, 0:1) after a penalty shootout and are still waiting for their first win. After all, the first point was won. Alexander Barta was responsible for Düsseldorf’s success in Bietigheim in the shootout.
Before the game, the DEL had decided that the game between Bietigheimer and ERC Ingolstadt, which had been canceled at short notice last Friday due to a hole in the ice, will be rescheduled on October 5th. The feared evaluation of the encounter for the opponent did not come about.
