544 card players compete for world title manilen in Deerlijk

544 card players in a room, a real record. Particularly many participants for a card game that is only played in West and East Flanders and a little in Hainaut. It is the largest card tournament organized in Belgium.

Manillen is a card game played with four people, where two duos compete against each other. The success story is that the card game connects generations. The game is for young and old: the youngest participant is thirteen and the oldest is 98 years old.

It is already the fourth time that the organization organizes the world championship and the number of participants is increasing every year.

During the championship, three rounds are played, where tables are changed. The 128 best scores will advance to the semi-finals. Of these, the 32 table winners will advance to the final. Then there will be played for the world title.

Only tonight will we know who will be crowned world champion in Manila.
