52-year-old woman from the Netherlands died after falling from a mountain in Norway | NOW

A 52-year-old woman from Gelderland fell and died during a mountain hike in Norway on Friday, reports the Police in the Norwegian province of Innlandet. The accident happened at about 6.30 pm at the Mefjelletberg in the municipality of Øystre Slidre, writes, among other things, the Oppland Worker Sheet.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague has confirmed the accident and is providing consular assistance to the relatives. The mountain top is located just below the Jotunheimen Nature Park, a popular hiking area in Norway.

Opposite The Gelderlander relatives confirm the death of the 52-year-old woman. The woman is said to have opened a yoga center in the nearby village of Heidal with her partner just before the accident.

According to various media, the route that the woman walked, together with her partner and a number of friends, is steep and challenging. Despite the deployment of rescue helicopters, trauma helicopters and volunteers, the emergency services could no longer do anything for her.

According to the police, a local crisis team has been called in to assist the relatives and other members of the travel group.
