There is a birthday hurray hurray, you can see that it is French! The Brabant folk singer Frans Bauer blew out 50 candles on Saturday. Time to look back on the many highlights of his life and career. May many more follow!
1987 – At the age of fourteen, Frans releases his first single ‘Ben je Jong’. The record is made under the supervision of producers Riny Schreijenberg and Emile Hartkamp.

1992 – Frans gains national fame through his performance in All You Need is Love. He would later call this a “terrible experience.”
1993 – His first album ‘On the way to happiness’ is released. It does not go higher than the 66th position in the Album Top 100. But the start has been made!
1997 – Frans’ first number 1 hit is a fact four years later. He sings the duet ‘De Regenboog’ together with Marianne Weber.

2003 – This year the reality soap about Frans and his family is released: De Bauers. The soap is a success and one of the first soaps based on a Dutch celebrity.
2004 – A top year for Frans. He is appointed Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau and wins a Golden Televizier Ring (for his soap), a Golden Harp and an Edison. Bauer is also named Best National Singer during the Edison Gala. His album ‘That’s what you have friends for’ and a concert recording on DVD both achieved gold.

2005 – Frans enters the ‘list of lists’, the Top 2000 at position 652 with ‘Have a moment for me’. The number will remain there until 2012.
2006 – Frans plays fifteen nights in a row in Ahoy Rotterdam, a record!
2008 – Mariska and Frans tie the knot, a huge event attended by hundreds of fans and almost all media.
2009 – Frans becomes a TV presenter and presents the hidden camera show Bananasplit for the TROS.
2023 – Frans shows a more serious side and comes up with a program about low literacy. Something he has also had to deal with within his own family, the subject is close to his heart.
