50 photographers take photo of favorite coastal town for ‘breathtaking places’ expo
Last year, Westtoer asked 47 local and three foreign photographers to portray different aspects of the coast. Now their photos are on display in the ten coastal municipalities, mainly at tram stops, but also at a few entrepreneurs. Sabien Lahaye-Battheu, deputy & chairman of Westtoer: “These are local photographers, coastal residents who want to show their place on the coast from their emotionality and pride. We also cross the border and so it becomes a route of 80 kilometers of breathtaking photos that you can go see.” (continue reading below the photo)
Johan Töpke is one of the photographers who portrays his favorite spot. Johan is a weather photographer. “It’s been 22 years since I took my weather photos from Middelkerke. I live for it, I’m there for Middelkerke. I enjoy it. I’m glad I can share that with everyone, permanent residents and second-residents.”
Some photos are about what you can do by the sea, but nature and tranquility, architecture and coast, the maritime and nostalgia are also discussed. The photo exhibition ‘Breathtaking places’ runs until the end of August. There is also a pocket guide with breathtaking trips and a podcast per municipality.
