50 euros extra for cinema, museum or theater

Moritz Schmidt (23)

Moritz Schmidt (23) from Tempelhof, landscape gardener: “I would like to go to the cinema with my girlfriend, who also got a ticket. Also visit museums, operas and theaters rather not. I haven’t decided on anything specific yet. The whole thing is a nice incentive to go to the cinema.” Photo: Ralf Lutter

Now it is at the start, the first Berliners between the ages of 18 and 23 picked up the youth culture card in the libraries. The credit of 50 euros can be redeemed in around 200 establishments.

Some theaters have already come up with special offers, so with the 50 euros you can go to the Friedrichstadt-Palast twice for 25 euros, or even ten times to the Volksbühne for five euros.

We asked the first holders of the youth culture card what they wanted to spend their budget on: cinema or museum were the favourites! But the young people can still think about what they want to do until the end of April. That’s how long the youth culture card is valid.

Alexandra Büsing (20), law student from Moabit: “My mother told me that this card will be available from today, but I already knew that from the news. I will mainly use them for cinemas and museums. Without the culture card, this would not be possible as often as leisure activities cost a lot.” Photo: Ralf Lutter

David (19) from Zehlendorf, high school graduate: “I would like to use the card for the cinema, not for clubs. I’m already looking forward to the film ‘Sonne und Beton’ based on Felix Lobrecht’s coming-of-age novel. I’m not necessarily dependent on the 50 euros, but that way I can go to the cinema more.” Photo: Ralf Lutter
