Rap star 50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson, has made headlines after forcefully throwing a microphone into the audience at his gig. He performed in Los Angeles on Wednesday, and in a video of the situation that has been circulated, the rapper appears frustrated and throws the microphone to the side of the stage.
TMZ says the microphone was hit Bryhana Monegain – woman to the head, and the woman has shared pictures of her injuries on social media. In the photos, the woman has a big wound on her forehead. TMZ reports that Monegain has filed a criminal complaint, and 50 Cent is now suspected of assault.
50 Cent’s lawyer Scott Leemon has commented on events for Fox News, among others.
– Let’s make this clear. As I told the police this afternoon, my client Curtis would never purposely throw a microphone at anyone. Anyone who says otherwise doesn’t know the facts, Leemon says.
According to Variety, 50 Cent was upset because the microphones given to him did not work. This frustration reportedly led to the microphone being thrown into the audience.
Fox News reports that 50 Cent threw no less than two microphones into the audience during the same concert. In the video obtained by the site, the rapper first appears as if offering the microphone to the audience, but later ends up throwing it away from the stage.
It wasn’t that long ago that another rap star was at the center of a commotion after throwing a microphone into the crowd. Cardi B got nervous in the middle of a show in Las Vegas and threw a microphone at an audience member. The fan who got the microphone on his head filed a criminal complaint, but in the end no charges were filed.
