They wear red coats and a bushy white beard and their vehicle is decorated for Christmas. But instead of on a sleigh, these cool Santa Clauses are on their motorbikes!

And all of this for a good cause: Every year on the Saturday before the 3rd Advent, the Christmas bikers from the “Santa Claus on Road eV” association travel to various fundraising destinations in Berlin. According to the organizer, around 450 drivers started at the event from the town hall in Lankwitz.

Marion Höffner (58) says to the BZ: “It was definitely a lot more than last time!” The route went through the city to Charlottenburg Palace and back to Lankwitz.

Prerequisite for participation in the tour: a bike, trike or quad decorated for Christmas. Some drivers even had a small Christmas tree or a cardboard chimney attached to their vehicle.

Boxer shorts, carts and boxes

Two vans drove with the donations to the “Citystation of the Berlin City Mission” and to the “Outreach – Mobile Children and Youth Work” in Tempelhof-Schoeneberg and Mariendorf.

On the wish lists of the social institutions were simple things like boxer shorts or handkerchiefs, but also food processors, handcarts and Bluetooth speakers.

The donated items mainly benefit people on the street.
