45 women and children from Ukraine arrived this morning at EuroParcs Buitenhuizen. Mainly the IJmuidense middle class collected money, so that they could be picked up with a tour bus. Driver Henk van der Valk: “A special journey. All the basic necessities, things that you can easily take off the shelves here, are very much needed there. That was very impressive.”
Van der Valk Tours’ bus left with a bus full of stuff, and returned with a bus full of Ukrainians, mainly from Kiev.
Fishing companies and beach bars from IJmuiden, among others, contributed money to pay for the petrol for the long bus journey. The Velsen mayor Frank Dales was also present to welcome the people.
For the time being, they can stay in the holiday park in Buitenhuizen. Unfortunately without their men, who have stayed behind in Ukraine.
