43-year-old man from Den Helder has been missing for months, acquaintances are seriously concerned

Deeq Hersi Addow, a 43-year-old man from Noordkop, has been missing for months. He was last seen in Den Helder on July 15. Acquaintances are seriously concerned. “We would like to know where he is, a sign of life,” says one of them.

Ten years ago, Deeq, a refugee from Somalia, came into contact with Dirk Krabbendam in Hippolytushoef, see the conversation with Dirk above. In it he talks about his first meeting with Deeq. “He was sitting on a bench with a glass of beer. I thought that was very special, I could feel everything that he was lonely. I sat next to it.”

Since then, Dirk has had a lot of contact with Deeq. “He came to get food from the food bank where I was working at the time. He also regularly came to our house for a cup of coffee or tea. One day he showed up in our shed, unannounced. That was a bit strange. Then I promised that he could just ring the doorbell and get something. He was happy to take advantage of that.”

Concerns about well-being

More than a year ago, Deeq moved to Den Helder, where Irma Haubrigh works at the GGD. “He was a welcome guest here in town. You saw him everywhere.”

“We would like a sign of life from him, because he was and is a striking figure. He belongs to our city.”

Police say there are concerns for his well-being. He speaks poor Dutch, is deaf and can look a bit unkempt. Do you know anything about him?
