The Eisbären Berlin have continued their winning streak in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) and further consolidated their lead in the table. On Wednesday evening, the German champions won 4-2 (1-1, 2-0, 1-1) at Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven, celebrating their fifth success in a row.
Goals from Zach Boychuk, Marcel Noebels, Blaine Byron and Kevin Clark gave the Capitals a deserved overall win.
In front of 2344 spectators in the Eisarena Bremerhaven, the Berliners started strong and went through in their first power play Boychuks Hit early in the lead. After that, however, the capitals allowed themselves to be a bit careless, so that Jan Urbas was able to equalize after a counterattack by the hosts.
The polar bears also got off to a better start in the second third: Noebels scored about two minutes after the restart. The guests now played more consistently, survived a few manpower situations and increased shortly before the half-time siren with a goal from Byron.
In the final section, the Berliners cleverly managed their lead. Clark made the preliminary decision with his goal, before the hosts were able to shorten the gap again shortly before the end with a goal from Ross Mauermann.
