Tonight the 40th edition of the Prinsengracht concert will take place. Thousands of people can listen to different types of classical music in their boats and on the quay. The preparations for the open-air concert were already in full swing last night.
Singer Maria Fiselier presents the concert for the first time. “The quay will be full again,” she predicts. “The atmosphere will certainly be there. As you are used to from Amsterdam. I think it’s great that I can combine it. That I can show how beautiful classical music is. Not only by singing, but now also with presenting, that is fantastic for me.”
The well-known cellist Nicolas Altstaedt makes his debut. He is impressed by the atmosphere. “It’s very special. It doesn’t feel like in the city, but somewhere out there with water and boats. Very special.” He expects many different kinds of music tonight. From the Beatles to the classic ‘At the Amsterdam Canals’. Pianist Barbara Nissman will also be there tonight, she was also present during the first edition. “It’s very special and magical.”
The Prinsengracht concert starts tonight at 21.20. It was quite busy this afternoon:
