In a key week for the future of Argentina, NEWS dedicated its 34th anniversary to honor 40 years of democracy. He did it in the National Congress, in the emblematic Hall of the Lost Stepswhere relevant personalities for the consolidation of the republican system were distinguished.
The protagonists of Trial of the military Juntas in 1985which marked a milestone in Argentine history with international significance, were represented by the president of that court, León Arslanián, Luis Moreno Ocampo and the group of those young people brought together by prosecutor Julio César Strassera to gather damning evidence in record time.
Also distinguished wasl Forensic Anthropology Teamfor their efforts in finding and identifying the remains of people who disappeared during the dictatorship and Martin Balzachief of the Army General Staff between 1991 and 1999, for condemning the actions of the armed forces, pointing out repression, disappearance and identity substitution as criminal practices, but also for his collaboration so that the new members of those forces understood their duty to respect the laws of the Republic.
There was also recognition of so many laws that changed the lives of Argentines in recent years, such as the Shared Parental Authority, the Human Trafficking Law, the Equal Marriage Law, the Justina Law (for organ transplants) and the Micaela Law (for training with a gender perspective in all levels of the state).
And finally, NOTICIAS honored those who worked on the reform of the Constitution that has governed us since 1994, represented by a handful of constituents from different political parties at the time. Perhaps the best example of the achievements of consensus, which allowed new rights, norms and control bodies to be incorporated into the Magna Carta for the defense of democracy. An exercise that we should reactivate.
