Four football supporters have been arrested for rioting after the Willem II-NAC match in early September. The derby in Tilburg was stopped after 52 minutes of play after fireworks were thrown onto the field. The arrest of the four rioters was announced by the police on Wednesday.
After the match, a group of Willem II supporters misbehaved. Among other things, sticks, trash cans and a fence were thrown at the Mobile Unit. An officer was slightly injured.
On the day itself, a 23-year-old man from Oisterwijk was arrested for insulting him. On Wednesday, the police announced more arrests. The message warns other rioters. “Have you been involved in the riots and do you want to avoid being recognizable in the media? Please report as soon as possible,” the police urge.
“We will soon show blurred images via social media and television. If we do not receive a response, the images will be shown recognizably,” the police warn.
The match was stopped shortly after halftime.
