After four recent defeats, TSV 1860 Munich is confirming its upward trend. A hard-earned success against SC Verl gave the Lions some breathing room again.
TSV 1860 Munich is back on the road to success. The Lions earned a deserved 1-0 (1-0) against SC Verl on Saturday and climbed back into the top half of the 3rd league table. An own goal from Torge Paetow (40th) helped the team of the last coach Maurizio Jacobacci to their second league success in a row. The promotion ranks are now within sight again for the Munich team.
Lions with a lot of momentum despite double failure
After the liberation last weekend Coach Maurizio Jacobacci had to do without his convincing wing team of Julian Guttau (ill) and Morris Schröter (stricken). Kilian Ludewig and Albion Vrenezi played for the two match winners from the previous week, with Tim Rieder replacing Marlon Frey in midfield.
It was the same Rieder who made it 1-0 in a slow-paced game shortly before half-time when he grabbed the ball in the penalty area and passed it sharply into the middle. There wasn’t a lion anywhere in sight, but Verl’s defender Paetow unfortunately pushed the ball into his own goal. Overall, TSV was the more active team, disrupted the guests’ early build-up to the game and was visually superior.
In the 61st minute, the hard-working Ludewig missed making it 2-0, so it remained exciting until the end. Verl’s equalizer in the 76th minute was taken back after it was narrowly offside, but otherwise the TSV defensive group withstood the timid attacks.
Balanced balance sheet for 1860
After a wavey start to the season and a temporary crisis, the Lions are now in eighth place in the table with four wins and four defeats. Only two points are missing from promotion place two, although the Lions were in 16th place two games ago.
