3rd league: VfL Osnabrück vs. Eintracht Braunschweig relocated due to storm damage

“Meet Responsibility”

Because the stadium on the Bremer Bridge was damaged by the storm “Zeynep”, the duel in the 3rd division between VfL Osnabrück and Eintracht Braunschweig that was planned for this Saturday (2:00 p.m.) has to be postponed. The Osnabrück announced on Saturday morning. In the stadium, among other things, advertising boards had come loose from the roof construction and had flown onto the playing field and the spectator stands. The stadium was then closed for security reasons.

The severe weather warning has now been lifted, but the German weather service continues to warn of strong wind and gusts of wind. It is therefore to be feared that other advertising boards, which had already come loose as a result of the storm, could fly from the roof onto the field or the grandstand areas before or during the game, according to the Osnabrück announcement.

“As organizers, we have to live up to our responsibilities. Unfortunately, we have no other option than to postpone the game in consultation with the German Football Association,” said VfL Managing Director Michael Welling. It is not yet clear when the game will be rescheduled.
