3rd League: Two expulsions: 1860 Munich loses at Viktoria Köln

After three games without defeat, TSV 1860 Munich lost again for the first time in the third football league. At Viktoria Köln, Morris Schröter becomes a face of the game. He immediately makes amends for his handball – and then flies off the pitch.

TSV 1860 Munich remains stuck in the midfield of the 3rd football league. The Lions cannot win against their table neighbors Viktoria Köln either – instead they lose 1:2 (1:1) due to a last-minute goal. And that despite two sending offs for the Sixties in the final phase.

For the Lions it was the expected difficult away performance on Saturday afternoon in the Sportpark am Höhenberg, where the TSV 1860 fans on the back straight constantly supported their team loudly. In particular, the always lively Cologne attacker Luca Marseiler repeatedly posed problems for the Lions defense in the first half.

Ex-Hachinger Marseiler poses problems for TSV 1860

Marseiler, trained at SpVgg Unterhaching, was involved in almost all of North Rhine-Westphalia’s offensive actions – and also scored the 1-0 goal. By penalty, after a handball by 1860 midfielder Morris Schröter (41st minute).

TSV 1860 Munich in general, and Schröter in particular, really didn’t take long to react. During his first own attack, the previously unlucky Schröter grabbed the ball, headed it to his head and shot it neatly into the left corner to equalize.

Hiller representative Richter is holding strong again

Immediately after the goal, the Sixties were lucky that referee Timon Schultz did not punish a possible foul by Jesper Verlaat on Moritz Fritz in the penalty area (43′). “If there is a second penalty here, we can’t complain,” said the sixty goalkeeper Marco Hiller as a co-commentator on BR television.

Schröter and Kwadwo are sent off

The game at Höhenberg was much quieter in the second half – except for the final phase. Both teams, it seemed, didn’t want to lose above all – Cologne had a few more chances, but Hiller representative David Richter defused them all. Until the final phase began: Leroy Kwadwo stopped the Cologne attacker André Becker and was shown a red card for the hard kick – perhaps a little too hard (80th minute).

Shortly afterwards, Schröter was actually fouled in the Viktoria penalty area, but Schultz didn’t want to give this penalty either. And after Schröter complained, he sent him off the pitch instead (82′). That too harsh for the taste of BR commentator Lukas Schönmüller and Hiller. And so it happened as it had to happen: after a May cross, Michael Schultz headed the winning goal for the hosts in the last minute (90th + 2).
