3rd league: SC Verl and BVB II achieve home wins

Status: 02/25/2023 12:48 p.m

SC Verl celebrated a home threesome against VfB Oldenburg that was just as important as Borussia Dortmund’s second choice against Waldhof Mannheim.

SC Verl – VfB Oldenburg 2: 1 (1: 0)

The hosts, SC Verl, could have taken the lead after just five minutes, but Jesse Tugbenyo was unable to ennoble a great assist by Luca Stellwagen and Torge Paetow, instead heading wide of the goal from close range. As a result, VfB limited themselves to defensive work and set themselves up deep in their own half with two bolts. Nonetheless, full-back Nikos Zografakis had his biggest chance to date after 20 minutes when he failed to take a corner kick from five yards out and was saved by Sebastian Mielitz.

Shortly before the break, SCV was rewarded for its bold performance: Tugbenyo was knocked off his feet in the guests’ 16th – Nicolas Sessa confidently converted the penalty kick to make it 1-0 (43rd).

After the change of sides, however, VfB needed just four minutes to set everything back to zero. Manfred Starke got through well in the 16 and put the ball perfectly across the middle from the baseline – Kamer Krasniqi only had to put his foot down – it was 1:1 (49th).

VfB was back in the game, but had to make do with just ten men from the 65th minute – Marc Stendera saw yellow-red. Four minutes later Oldenburg paid for it: Nico Ochojski was free on the edge of the 16 and sent the ball brilliantly into the left corner – 2: 1 for Verl.

Bor. Dortmund II – Waldhof Mannheim 4:0 (2:0)

The secondary representation of BVB surprised the favored guest from Mannheim from the start with well-structured and courageous offensive football. The young team of the hosts dominated the game and deservedly took the lead in the 18th minute: Justin Nijnmah had been freed by Falko Michel and scored from 12 meters to make it 1-0. Only four minutes later it was 2-0: After a cross from Ole Pohlmann, Franz Pfanne was spot on in the center and converted with a header.

BVB remained dominant in the second round and increased: Nijnmah again (65th) and Marco Pasalic in injury time screwed the result up to 4:0.
